National TV hosted our president on the occasion of the founding of National Aliance "VeličanstveNE"

The national alliance “VeličanstveNE” (Magnificent) was founded in Belgrade with the mission to point out the danger of human papillomavirus, the cause of cervical cancer, and the importance of vaccination.

At the initiative of the association “Progovori” (Speak Up) for the fight against cervical cancer, the Alliance was joined by representatives of the state, the profession, and celebrities. There are many reasons why it is important to say “no” together to the Ha-pe virus and cervical cancer, from which more than 700 women die annually.

Professor Katarina Stefanović confirmed that the fight against cervical cancer must have a “wide front”, who told RTS that it is very important for women to be aware of the fact that they should go for regular gynecological examinations.

She also added that there are more and more younger patients suffering from diseases caused by ha-pe viruses.

Cervical cancer used to be considered a disease of older women, but the line has shifted, mainly due to earlier unprotected sex among young people.

Organized screening implies detection of the disease in the asymptomatic phase.

Ha-pe viruses are the main, but still not the only causes of cervical cancer, and therefore, in addition to the vaccine, prevention in the form of regular check-ups is an important step in the fight against this vicious disease.

“The state provided the nine-valent vaccine as a primary prevention measure for young men and women, that is, for girls and boys who have not yet had their first sexual contact. It is free and is carried out from the age of nine to 19,” said Professor Stefanović.

By the way, men get sick less from this type of cancer, but they are definitely carriers, so vaccination is important for both boys and girls.

Professor Stefanović emphasized that educating young people about preserving reproductive health is also important.
