TV appearance: Preservation of reproductive cells of malignant diseases at the expense of Insurance

Women up to 40 and men up to 50 years of age who are suffering from malignant diseases can freeze their reproductive material at the expense of the RFZO, prof. tells RTS. Dr. Katarina Jeremic. What is also very important, after the end of treatment, the state also finances in vitro fertilization, Jeremiceva points out.

Patients with malignant diseases can freeze their reproductive material at the expense of the Republic Health Insurance Fund, so that they have the opportunity to become parents at the end of the treatment.

“The state finances and in fact supports the preservation of the reproductive health of young people suffering from a malignant disease, among other things, by financing the preservation of reproductive cells – eggs, spermatozoa, but also embryos,” said Prof. Dr. Katarina Jeremić from the National Center for Oncofertility of the Clinic in Višegradska UKCS.

Women up to 40 and men up to 50 years of age, who are still waiting for treatment and who do not have advanced or metastatic disease, can count on support.

“What is also very important and interesting is that the state finances in vitro fertilization after the end of the treatment,” says Jeremic.

When it comes to the time period during which reproductive cells can be stored, Jeremiceva states that, when frozen, eggs and spermatozoa can be stored indefinitely, and embryos up to five years.
